KBI - Product Information

KBI Flexi™-Pave has long-term, real world testing and provides superior functionality and design. Its unique properties and features give it a material classification all its own.

  1. Flexible
  2. Porous
  3. Non-cracking (even in freeze/thaw conditions)
  4. Slip-resistant
  5. Superior impact absorption (can withstand 30 ton vehicles)
  6. Heated surface options (non-freezing)
  7. Utilizes high volmues of waste tires in its construction
  8. Many color options

KBI Flexi™-Pave is also resistant to transmission fluid, brake fluid, hydraulic fluid, salt water, oil, chlorine, ozone, bromine, muriatic acid and other hostile materials. These are properties that no other general material or paving system possess. It will never replace concrete but will greatly enhance a multitude of paving and other construction challenges in commercial, industrial and residential arenas.

  1. The flexibility of KBI Flexi™-Pave gives it enormous resistance to sub surface movement that would normally cause trip hazards and separation - ultimately causing costly repairs and site liabilities.

  2. Given its porous properties, a developer can reduce the need for stormwater retention, providing greater value in the building design and size.

  3. Freeze/thaw conditions will not crack the material as the rubber provides for a monolithic expansion and contraction joint. Providing light heat in a northern winter condition can eliminate costly plowing and chemical costs.

  4. Slip resistance due to the high rubber content makes it suitable for inclined paving.

  5. The impact absorption qualities makes this a very favorable surface for jogging trails, nature walks, training facilities, etc.

  6. Color coordinated or natural options provide the designer or client the ability to match, blend, or highlight colors depending on their desire.

KBI Flexi™-Pave is the only answer to our used tire challenges today.

KBI - Applications

KBI has developed a material that can be used in a wide variety of applications. The list below represents a number of the uses developed to date but a resourceful and creative think-tank can and will conceive of many other uses in the future...

Flexible / Porous / Non-Cracking / Weight Bearing / Insulating

To date we have rendered the following applications:
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Roofing material:

Flat roofs can utilize our material as ballast and to virtually double the life of of the roof coating as the rubber under lament is then protected from abrasion and the deteriorating effects of the elements. Heating the material can reduce the amount of snow weight in northern geographical regions as well.

Refurbishment and Repair of Asphalt and Concrete:
KBI Flexi™-Pave eliminates demolition costs and makes existing surfaces more durable because existing cracks become elasticized. When refurbishing or repairing cracked asphalt and concrete, KBI Flexi™-Pave is ideal for uses such as golf cart paths, sidewalks, and non-competitive training tracks and trails.

Erosion Control:
In areas where hard rains occur in a sandy soil, KBI Flexi™-Pave can "dissipate" the effect of water on the substrata and help secure against rutting and the undermining effect of water.

Horse Stables and Animal Compounds:
Our HD2000 and HD1000 products are excellent surfaces for horse stalls and horse wash racks. Additionally, because of its porosity the material can be used in animal farming with KBI Flexi™-Pave being used as a "false floor" that can easily be sterilized on a periodic basis.
